About The Position

The Medical University of South Carolina is seeking a dedicated and experienced Pharmacy Manager for Compounding Services to join our dynamic healthcare team. As a vital leader in our pharmacy department, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the highest quality patient care, promoting safety, and optimizing pharmacy operations in our renowned healthcare facility. The Compounding Services Pharmacy Manager will be responsible for daily operations within the compounding pharmacy, including oversight of the compounding pharmacy staff pharmacists and certified pharmacy technicians. You will support the scale-up of growing compounding capabilities, as well as acting as a stakeholder in the development of new compounded treatments. You will strive to maximize quality and patient safety while dispensing medication in accordance with federal and state pharmacy regulations.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Pharmacy with a B.S. in Pharmacy or Pharm. D. degree.
  • Current pharmacist license in good standing with South Carolina State Board of Pharmacy.
  • Minimum 3 years pharmacy management experience preferred.
  • 3-4 years of pharmacy experience in a compounding pharmacy setting.
  • Familiarity with USP chapters 795, 797, and 800.
  • Familiar with pharmacy software systems and willingness to learn new systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced business degree and/or completion of a Residency program.
  • Experience with 503b pharmacy.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations within the compounding pharmacy.
  • Manage and mentor pharmacy staff, including pharmacists and certified pharmacy technicians.
  • Support the scale-up of compounding capabilities.
  • Act as a stakeholder in the development of new compounded treatments.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state pharmacy regulations.
  • Promote medication safety through effective processes and techniques.
  • Develop and execute strategic initiatives for system efficiency and safety.
  • Plan, implement, and assess programs for pharmaceutical care quality.
  • Create project plans for new compounding initiatives.
  • Coordinate personnel development and training materials.
  • Maintain protocols and data relevant to compounded non-sterile products.
  • Review, revise, and create Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
