The Pharmacy Manager and Pharmacist in Charge (Legal PIC) serves as the senior operational and regulatory leader of PursueCare’s pharmacy, PursueCareRx. This role is accountable for pharmacy inventory and wholesaler strategy, staffing models, fulfillment operations, reimbursement and revenue generation, and scaling the pharmacy into a national managed service capable of supporting PursueCare’s patients and enterprise partners. The role requires close operating oversight of policies, procedures, specialty and mail-order compliance, licensing, inspections, and human resource management. The Pharmacy Manager and Pharmacist in Charge will be ultimately responsible for day-to-day pharmacy operations, while working collaboratively with the Lead Clinical Pharmacist in Charge, who oversees clinical care and patient management in coordination with PursueCare’s providers.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from an accredited institution.
  • Active pharmacist license(s) with ability to serve as Pharmacist in Charge in required states.
  • Demonstrated experience leading pharmacy operations, compliance, and growth initiatives.
  • Strong working knowledge of controlled substance regulations, inventory controls, and audit readiness.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience scaling pharmacy operations in mail order, specialty, or multi-state environments preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the designated Pharmacist in Charge on all pharmacy permits and regulatory filings.
  • Lead day-to-day retail, specialty and mail-order pharmacy operations including intake, verification, dispensing, packaging, shipping, and exception management.
  • Own pharmacy readiness for audits and inspections across DEA, State Boards of Pharmacy, and third-party accreditors, collaborating with the Chief Compliance Officer.
  • Manage staffing models for pharmacists, technicians, and support staff to safely meet volume and growth targets.
  • Oversee inventory management, wholesaler and distributor relationships, purchasing controls, and cost optimization to ensure profitability.
  • Implement scalable standard operating procedures that support national growth and partner onboarding.
  • Collaborate with revenue cycle team to improve clean claim rates, prior authorization turnaround, and reimbursement outcomes.
  • Establish operational KPIs and dashboards including turnaround time, on-time shipment, error rates, and cost-to-fill.
  • Partner with the Clinical Pharmacist in Charge to operationalize clinical protocols while maintaining throughput and compliance.
  • Serve as escalation point for regulatory issues, operational incidents, and complex pharmacy matters.
  • Support strategic planning with executive leadership related to expansion, technology enablement, and pharmacy integration.
