About The Position

The Pharmacy Specialist serves as a liaison between Outpatient Pharmacy and the organization's clinics to deliver drug information and availability. The Specialist facilitates the procurement and delivery of pharmaceuticals to the organization's clinics. The Specialist monitors inventory levels and drug storage for compliance with standards and regulations. The Specialist assists pharmacy leadership with audits, financials, and other projects as needed.

Requirements

  • High School or GED
  • Associate's Degree Business or related field
  • 2 1 Certified Pharmacy Technician Experience
  • Experience in both retail pharmacy and hospital pharmacy (including preparation of injectable pharmaceuticals)
  • Multitasking, time management and organizational skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems

Responsibilities

  • Serves as a liaison between Outpatient Pharmacy Services and physician clinics
  • Communicates any changes in pharmaceuticals supplied to the clinics
  • Communicates drug recalls to affected clinic staff
  • Surveys drug storage at all clinics for compliance with standards and regulations; submits findings to the clinic leadership
  • Serves as a resource for basic drug information and availability
  • Assists the Outpatient Pharmacy Buyer with the procurement process and monitoring inventory
  • Processes, procures, and coordinates the delivery of pharmaceuticals to physician clinics including Employee Health
  • Processes credit returns for out of date and recalled pharmaceuticals
  • Maintains and performs periodic inventory of pharmaceutical stock
  • Maintains temperature controls of department fridges/freezers
  • Assists Outpatient Pharmacy leadership with routine audits and clerical operations
  • Conducts internal and third-party audits of retail pharmacy claims
  • Maintains internal audit documents and files and ensures audit readiness
  • Collaborates with Cash Management to post and reconcile payments to Accounts Receivables
  • Assists with other department projects as needed
  • Performs duties of Certified Pharmacy Technician as needed
