It also supports clinical research, medical and pharmacy residency programs, emphasizing patient centered care. Job Summary The Pharmacist Intern I position is an entry level position aligned with the beginning of Pharmacy School and performs the functions of a Pharmacy Technician, under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist in compliance with all policies and procedures for the Pharmacy Department, Baptist Health, and the Alabama Board of Pharmacy. Shift is every 3 rd weekend rotating between 06:30-15:00 and 08:00-16:30

Requirements

  • Currently registered in and attending an ACPE-Accredited or pending APCE Accreditation, College or School of Pharmacy.
  • Must be in 1st or 2nd professional year of pharmacy school.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in pharmacy quality assurance programs such as outdated drug monitoring, CQI Program, Unit Dose Packaging of medication, IV Room QA and QC Logs, and USP Chapter 797 compliance.
  • Dispenses medications utilizing the medication dispensing system according to scientific principles and Baptist Health policy and procedure, under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
  • Manufactures and dispenses intravenous medication using proper aseptic technique, under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
  • Demonstrates the ability to operate the equipment required for pharmacy procedures, consistent with operating instructions, safety, regulations, and policy and procedures.
  • Performs the basic Pharmacy Technician procedures required by the assigned area consistent with scientific principles, policy, and procedures.
  • Accurately assists the Pharmacist in all duties pertaining to the medication distribution, including proper aseptic techniques for admixture of various types of medication (e.g. chemotherapy) and functionally performing tasks/procedures associated with automated dispensing cabinets.
  • Maintains USP 795, 797 and 800 standards and other regulatory required documentation.
  • Maintains safe handling and proper disposal requirements.
  • Maintains the controlled substance vault and perpetual inventory and other documentation files depending on the needs of the department.
  • Completes special projects as assigned.
  • Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Baptist Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
