Under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist and according to established policies and procedures, assists the Pharmacist in the efficient and accurate preparation, dispensing and delivery of pharmaceuticals and supplies. Under general supervision, consults with medical staff, nurses and other healthcare providers to coordinate the delivery of pharmaceuticals to patients. Participates in educational programs and projects designed to improve the clinical and operational components of the department, and to develop the interns philosophy relative to their responsibility in providing optimum care for the patient. The depth and magnitude of the interns involvement is directly related to their academic standing or year of professional education. Scope of Work Under the direction and supervision of a licensed pharmacist, the Pharmacist Intern performs a variety of functions related to the preparation, storage, and distribution of medications within the health system. As the intern progresses through pharmacy school, they will take on higher levels of professional responsibility and support. The intern embraces the goals and objectives encompassing pharmaceutical activities for Trinity Health and promotes team efforts to manage and achieve departmental and organizational objectives. The role requires good judgment, decisiveness, and a personal commitment to professional growth. Key Responsibilities Assist pharmacists in medication preparation and distribution. Support inventory management and medication storage. Participate in medication reconciliation and patient education under supervision. Maintain accurate documentation in compliance with regulatory standards. Engage in quality improvement and medication safety initiatives. Collaborate with pharmacy technicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient care.
