About The Position

Pharmacy Intern Location: This role requires associates to be in-office 1 - 2 days per week, fostering collaboration and connectivity, while providing flexibility to support productivity and work-life balance. The Pharmacy Intern will be responsible for the interpretation and data entry of moderately complex prescriptions, prior authorization processing, and troubleshooting adjudication issues.

Requirements

• Ability to work 20 per week for the duration of the internship
• Currently enrolled in a Pharmacy program at an accredited college or university.
• A current, active, unrestricted Pharmacist Intern license in applicable state(s) required.

Nice To Haves

• 1st year PharmD students are preferred.
• Prior experience working in pharmacy retail strongly preferred
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
• Excellent Communication skills, both written and oral
• Excellent Problem-solving, Analytical, and Organizational skills
• Excellent Public Speaking and Presentation skills

Responsibilities

• Assists in developing and configuring prior authorization decision trees in the workflow tool
• Participates in quality assurance feedback from pharmacists of prior authorization decision trees within the workflow tool
• Assists in implementing clinical programs within the prior authorization space
• Verifies member, provider, and drug information and inputs data for the prior authorization pharmacists.
• Educates providers on pharmacy-based rules related to prescriptions and medication resources or assistance programs.
• Processes prior authorization requests from physicians’ offices and ensures compliance with Medicare and Medicaid requirements; inform relevant parties of all prior authorization determinations.
