About The Position

This position functions to assist the medication safety pharmacist in providing a safe environment for patients, staff members and visitors. Interns will review event reports to determine contributing factors to errors, severity of the harm to the person affected and probable solution(s) to prevent errors from occurring in future. Under the guidance of the medication safety pharmacist, interns will help with data collection, data analysis, data presentation and discussion of various patient safety projects. This position is also responsible for supporting initiatives of the medication safety pharmacist and other preceptors including regulatory compliance, policy maintenance, quality assurance and auditing.

Requirements

  • Acceptance in an accredited college of pharmacy.
  • Must possess a current Ohio Board of Pharmacy Intern license within 120 days of hire, unless current license is in place upon hire.
  • 0 years of relevant experience required.

Nice To Haves

  • 0-2 years of relevant experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs routine tasks of event review and assigned project work under the direction of a medication safety pharmacist.
  • Collaborate with the pharmacy and non-pharmacy staff members to complete assigned tasks in a timely and professional manner.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work both as a member of a team and work individually.
  • Interns must participate in continuing educational opportunities to meet the annual competency requirements and participate in training opportunities provided by department to develop ongoing skills in other areas of the pharmacy.
  • Interns must comply with all rules and regulation of the hospital and pharmacy department and must have an Ohio Board of Pharmacy Intern license by day of hire.
  • All interns must maintain a current Ohio Board of Pharmacy intern license throughout employment in order to work as Pharmacy Intern at the OSU Medical Center Department of Pharmacy.
