About The Position

The Pharmacy Intern will assist licensed pharmacists in various aspects of pharmacy operations, including medication dispensing, patient care, and inventory management. This role is designed to provide a comprehensive learning experience, enhancing the intern's understanding of hospital pharmacy practice and contributing to improved patient outcomes.

Requirements

  • Enrollment in an approved program with the American Council of Pharmaceutical Education (ACPE).
  • 0-1 years Introductory or Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience as a part of training program.
  • Strong understanding of pharmacology, therapeutics, and pharmacy practice standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Basic computer skills and proficiency in pharmacy software preferred.
  • LPT - Licensed Pharmacy Tech State Pharmacy Technician Permit required.

Responsibilities

  • Assists pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications according to prescriptions and established protocols.
  • Participates in medication reconciliation and assists in managing medication therapy for patients as required.
  • Supports the maintenance of accurate inventory levels and assists with ordering and restocking medications.
  • Collaborates with healthcare teams to gather medication histories and provide patient education under the supervision of a pharmacist.
  • Performs routine checks on medication storage areas to ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
  • Participates in pharmacy rounds and assists with clinical activities as assigned.
  • Maintains accurate documentation of all pharmacy-related activities and interventions.
  • Engages in continuing education opportunities and contributes to departmental projects as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.
