About The Position

The Pharmacy Informatics Technician at Sutter Health is responsible for maintaining and enhancing pharmacy information systems, collaborating with various departments to ensure effective implementation and use of these systems. This role includes providing education to pharmacy and nursing staff, running quality assurance data reports, and may involve acting as a Pharmacy Technician to ensure timely and accurate pharmaceutical care.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited pharmacy technician program.
  • PHARMC-Certified Pharmacy Technician or PHRMTECHR-Registered Pharmacy Technician certification.
  • 2 years of recent experience in a pharmacy setting.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills in gathering information and resolving problems.
  • Specialized knowledge in Pharmacy Informatics Systems including EPIC, Pyxis machine, Guardrails software, and Alaris pump system.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and follow written instructions.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, pharmaceutical names, calculations, and relevant laws and regulations.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with hazardous drug management and compliance with USP 800 guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a resource for information inquiries regarding all technical aspects of the pharmacy and related systems.
  • Resolve pharmacy electronic system errors and assist with revenue integrity.
  • Work with stakeholders to ensure successful deployment of selected technology solutions and integration into pharmacy workflow.
  • Coordinate testing and implementation of all Pharmacy-related systems and upgrades.
  • Assist in the orientation, training, and competency assessment of pharmacy staff regarding pharmacy informatics.
  • Collaborate with the Information Systems team on Pharmacy System enhancements and maintenance.
  • Escalate appropriate issues to the Pharmacy PM to monitor compliance with regulations.
  • Partner with the system Pharmacy Project Manager and Pharmacist In Charge to implement standardized policies and workflows.
  • Attend hospital leadership meetings to provide recommendations on Pharmacy Information System updates.
  • Audit automated dispensing devices and pharmacy-related technology systems to evaluate appropriateness and accountability.
  • Act as a liaison between Pharmacy, Nursing, and Medicine departments to resolve and educate on Pharmacy Informatics System-related questions.
  • Implement new pharmacy policies, procedures, and workflow changes to integrate new technology with existing processes.
  • Review each project in-depth to schedule deliverables and maintain timelines.
