About The Position

This job is under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist. The individual maintains and ensures complete and appropriate drug therapy in a multidisciplinary pharmaceutical care environment according to appropriate guidelines. They prepare, dispense, and record medications ordered for an assigned group of patients, utilizing safe, rational, and cost-effective therapeutic decision-making. The role involves reviewing, evaluating, and monitoring patient drug therapy, providing drug information and patient education, and offering other clinical pharmacy services. The Pharmacy Graduate also oversees the day-to-day activities of technical and clerical staff who assist in these duties. The position requires the individual to perform each essential duty satisfactorily, possessing the necessary knowledge, skill, and ability. Requirements

  • Bachelor of Pharmacy degree (BS Pharm)
  • No work experience required
  • Eligibility for licensure to practice pharmacy in the State of Louisiana (must acquire licensure within 1 year from date of hire into this job)
  • Computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of patient information
  • Proficient with Windows-style applications and keyboard
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process
  • Proficient with various software packages specific to role
  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited College of Pharmacy

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and ensure complete and appropriate drug therapy in a multidisciplinary pharmaceutical care environment according to appropriate guidelines
  • Prepare, dispense and record medications ordered for an assigned group of patients, using safe, rational and cost-effective therapeutic decision making
  • Review, evaluate and monitor patient drug therapy
  • Provide drug information and patient education
  • Provide other clinical pharmacy services
  • Oversee the day-to-day activities of technical and clerical staff assisting in the above
  • Assess Medications Orders Therapy
  • Prepare and dispense medications
  • Manage drug therapy to optimize patient outcomes
  • Maintain professional certifications and technical knowledge
  • Manage a variety of projects for the department
  • Adapt behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style
