About The Position

The Pharmacy Engineering Technician 4 reports to the Pharmacy Engineering Supervisor and oversees logistics, fabrication, installation, operation, application, maintenance, and repair of mechanical and electromechanical machines, equipment, tools, motors and systems. The Pharmacy Engineering Technician 4 assumes ownership and leads advanced and highly specialized Maintenance Technicians with duties that require independent initiative and judgment. The Pharmacy Engineering Technician 4 procures and maintains the facilities equipment spare parts inventory along with keeping the storage locations and maintenance CMMS software (Mapcon), up to date. Places tickets to help resolve issues related to the purchasing and receiving of parts from vendors and schedules vendor service agreement visits (PM'S and equipment assessments). Support the Pharmacy Engineering team with equipment continuous improvements, such as project builds and equipment functionality testing. Work assignments are varied and frequently require interpretation and independent determination of the appropriate courses of action. The Pharmacy Engineering Technician 4 ensures maintenance and continuous improvement of quality and industry standards, evaluates mechanical products to determine cost effectiveness and efficiency, oversees and implements prescription drug distribution equipment and recommends design modifications to eliminate malfunctions, reduce cost-to-fill, increase throughput and improve quality, performs and leads tests of related software and equipment to ensure proper operation and freedom from defects, and devises improvements to current procedures and develops models of possible future configurations. Accounts for all equipment spare parts inventory at the facility (including point of use cabinets); audits goods received into the facility and the Mapcon application for accuracy. Oversees receipt, storage, input into Mapcon and the shipment of equipment parts in accordance with established procedures. Prepares and coordinates schedules for shipping and receiving equipment to control the flow of goods. Builds and maintains positive relationship with vendors and researches invoice and contractual issues and resolves discrepancies. Coordinate and schedule vendor service agreement visits (PM'S and equipment assessments). Ensures the effectiveness of maintenance by ensuring that ample parts are accounted for to restore equipment to working order. Understands department, segment, and organizational strategy and operating objectives, including their linkages to related areas. Makes decisions regarding own work methods, occasionally in ambiguous situations, and requires minimal direction and receives guidance where needed. Follows established guidelines/procedures on decisions regarding the daily priorities for an administrative work group and/or external vendors including coordinating work activities and monitoring progress towards schedules/goals and often oversees work of others and/or is the primary administrative owner of a main process, program, product or technology. Works within broad guidelines with little oversight.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in pharmacy engineering, equipment maintenance, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in evaluating mechanical products and implementing quality standards in a pharmacy setting.
  • Strong understanding of prescription drug distribution equipment and related software.
  • Proficiency in inventory management systems.
  • Experience in conducting tests and evaluating the functionality of engineering systems and equipment.
  • Familiarity with engineering design principles and cost-effectiveness evaluations.
  • Excellent communication skills to build and maintain positive relationships with vendors and team members.
  • Ability to lead and coordinate schedules for equipment shipping and receiving while managing vendor service agreements.
