About The Position

Requirements

  • Doctorate of Pharmacy or Bachelor of Pharmacy (if obtained prior to 2000)
  • 2 years of experience in Pharmacy or Residency trained
  • Pharmacist - Arkansas State Board of Pharmacy

Responsibilities

  • Works with Director and others to plan, implement, analyze, monitor and maintain a safe and effective medication use process.
  • Develops and maintains competency with hospital computer system to enable identification of safety issues and assist other health care professionals in safe use of the system.
  • Uses Safety Tracker to report interventions and medication occurrences and other documentation systems as requested.
  • Provides clinical and educational services such as rounding, drug information, patient education and optimization of drug therapy to patients and other health care professionals in selected practice site.
  • Serves as consultant to pharmacists and department in areas of clinical service, assisting in resolving problems related to physician orders, therapy, medication preparation and P&T Committee requirements.
  • Acts as a liaison between Pharmacy and medical and nursing staff on issues pertaining to clinical services or other pharmacy issues.
  • Educates pharmacists and other healthcare providers in areas of pediatric drug therapy through in-services, presentations, written educational materials and other methods, requiring two CE programs a year for pharmacists.
  • Participates in training of pharmacy students and residents, acting as preceptor as needed or requested.
  • Substitutes as staff pharmacist and assists with distributive workload as requested by managers.
  • Assists in analysis, planning and implementation of new or revised services.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
