About The Position

This position is for a Pharmacy Connect Medication Access Pharmacy Technician Specialist interested in being part of a fast-paced pharmacy team. The role involves serving patients by helping them receive and apply for needed medications and working closely with pharmacists to ensure pharmacy visits are scheduled and patients receive their medications timely. Specifically, this position will assist heart failure patients in obtaining affordable prescription medications and help schedule patients for the pharmacy team. Other general pharmacy technician activities are also expected. The specialist will collaborate with pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and clinic practices to ensure patients successfully obtain required prescription medications. This role requires frequent phone calls and reliable, private home internet.

Requirements

  • Registration/Licensure with state board of pharmacy per state of employment requirements
  • Certification through Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (CPhT) or National Health Career Association (ExCPT)
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • For technicians in NC with validating technician responsibilities- an Associate’s Degree in Pharmacy Technology is required
  • Typically requires 3 years of experience in health care, insurance industry, pharmacy, or medical background
  • Prior Experience with helping low income patients gain access to prescription medications, involvement in manufacturer assistance programs, or general experience in pharmacy retail assisting filling of prescriptions
  • Excellent oral, written, interpersonal, and customer service skills
  • Must be able to speak and be understood by others to communicate effectively
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Basic math skills
  • Strong background in medical terminology preferred
  • Organizational skills and analytical ability to prepare reports and reconcile reports correctly
  • Ability to evaluate and measure customer needs – set clear standards to ensure needs are met
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
  • Self-discipline and attention to detail
  • Working PC knowledge including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook), Internet, and general Call Center Systems

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with helping low income patients gain access to prescription medications, involvement in manufacturer assistance programs, or even general experience in pharmacy retail assisting filling of prescriptions.
  • Excellent customer service, communications skills (written and verbal), experience in Epic and excel, and happy, flexible, attitude to help patients and pharmacists serve patients to the best of their abilities is desired in this role.
  • Associate or bachelor's degree

Responsibilities

  • Keeps current with changes in the specialized field and collaborates with department leadership to adopt best practices
  • Maintains updated knowledge and skills and contributes to the education of others
  • Contributes positively to execution of pharmacy department initiatives
  • Accepts assignments of tasks from other pharmacy teammate roles when workload dictates
