A caregiver in this part-time role serves as the decentralized pharmacy specialist within the Emergency Department at Euclid Hospital, acting as the primary medication resource for ED providers and caregivers in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment. The specialist supports emergent conditions such as trauma, stroke, sepsis, cardiac events, respiratory distress and behavioral health by providing real-time medication selection, dosing recommendations and bedside support during codes, rapid responses and trauma activations. This role collaborates closely with physicians, APPs, nursing, critical care teams and pharmacy leadership, may float to critical care areas as needed and plays a key role in protocol-driven care pathways and interdisciplinary collaboration. This is a part-time role. A caregiver in this position will work 11:00am to 7:30pm. Within a 6-week scheduling period, 15 shifts will be worked. Weekend requirements include every 8th weekend between 6:30am and 1:00pm. Holiday requirements include 1 holiday per year. Flotations may require staffing at Main Campus Pharmacy as needed. A caregiver who excels in this role will: Routinely and continually provide pharmaceutical care for patients, considering their age and clinical condition. Provide general and patient specific drug information to patients, physicians, nurses and, and other health care professionals. Support Clinical Pharmacists in providing pharmaceutical care to patients by direct interaction and formal educational programs. Maintain expertise in areas of practice through continual learning, journal review and other educational activities. Educate Clinical Pharmacists, Technicians, Pharmacy Students, Post-Graduate Trainees and other caregivers in Pharmacotherapy within in the specialty area.

Requirements

  • PharmD or Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy from an accredited college of Pharmacy
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Pharmacist (RPh) or eligible within 90 days of hire
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) and completion of a Board of Pharmacy approved course in the administration of immunizations or certification obtained within 90 days of hire (if administering immunizations)
  • Completion of a Post-Graduate Year 2 Residency (PGY2) or fellowship OR completion of a Post-Graduate Year 1 Residency (PGY-1) and two years of experience as a Clinical Specialist or an equivalent role, including providing pharmaceutical care and performing pharmacotherapeutic monitoring for at least 50% of time in the specialty area OR four years of experience as a Clinical Specialist or an equivalent role, including providing pharmaceutical care and performing pharmacotherapeutic monitoring for at least 50% of time in the specialty area
