About The Position

Position Summary: The Pharmacy Clerk is responsible for performing daily, routine tasks in the pharmacy such as answering the phone, responding to customer requests, running the register, maintaining the over the counter area, and other clerical duties. Follows organization and department procedures to complete tasks in a timely manner. Assists with stocking and inventory tasks.

Requirements

  • Required 16 years old or older
  • Good communication skills
  • Good customer service skills
  • Strong business acumen, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a busy and stressful environment with varied shifts.
  • Be able to stand for 8 to 10 hours daily.
  • Must be able to work effectively in a team environment, and possess the ability to handle multiple tasks with ease.
  • Computer applications, MS Office, cash register, internet applications and standard office equipment.
  • This role requires regular and sustained attendance.
  • The position may necessitate working beyond a standard 40-hour workweek, including weekends and after-hours shifts.
  • On-call work may be required to respond promptly to organizational, patient, or employee needs.

Responsibilities

  • Greets on site and telephone customers promptly and appropriately.
  • Handle cash register transactions and accurately enter sales information into cash registers.
  • Refer patients/customers to pharmacist/technician when appropriate.
  • Assist customers by selling prescriptions and/or other products.
  • Ensure the correct medication, supplies and equipment are received by the patient.
  • Maintains adequate OTC inventories and supplies to meet the needs of customers.
  • Order, receive, price and put stock into inventory.
  • Maintains and orders non-billable pharmacy supplies. Oral syringes, bags, vials, etc.
  • Performs a variety of non-prescription data entry and report generating tasks.
  • Enters charges and credits for accurate adjudication and reconciliation of patient accounts and third-party claims billing as appropriate.
  • Handle all preparation for mailing, delivery and curbside delivery of prescriptions.
  • Ring all A/R payments, 3rd party payments and end of month payments into register.
  • Manage all returns to the pharmacy distribution center.
  • Responsible for training and supervising volunteers.
  • Maintain the OTC area for cleanliness and stock.
  • Regularly check for outdated OTC products.
