About The Position

Position Summary: The Pharmacy Cashier is the face of a pharmacy, interacting with customers on a daily basis, helping them to check out, while delivering a distinctive and delightful customer experience. This position also plays an important role in keeping the pharmacy organized and clean. The Pharmacy Cashier is part-time, scheduled to work 20 or 30 hours per week, 12 months a year. This position works 30 hours per week during the academic year (approximately 38-39 weeks) and 20 hours per week during scheduled CSU breaks in Fall, Winter, Spring and Summer (approximately 13-14 weeks). This position may voluntarily work additional hours to cover employees who are absent or on leave and during other clinic events, as requested by the management. The full-time annualized salary of $36,400 - $40,040 will be prorated based upon a 20 or 30 hour per week work schedule. CSU Health Network The CSU Health Network at Colorado State University provides a full range of cost-effective mental health and primary care medical services on campus, referral for community specialty care, and comprehensive health education and prevention services programming. Pharmacy The CSU Health Network Pharmacy at Colorado State University provides prescription medication to students, faculty, and the community of Colorado State. In close conjunction with other departments of the CSU Health Network, we strive to ensure our students receive optimal healthcare in a fast, friendly, and professional environment. The Pharmacy provides services between the hours of 8:00 am – 5:30 pm Monday-Friday, providing attractive work schedules for staff.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Six months of experience as a cashier in a retail environment
  • Pre-employment Criminal Background Check
  • Pre-employment Drug Testing - Must be willing and able to pass a pre-employment drug test
  • Special Requirement - The CSU Health Network follows CDC guidelines for Employee Health in a healthcare setting, including proof of vaccinations. Employees must show proof of compliance/willingness to comply by start date.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience working in a pharmacy
  • Experience working in a retail/customer service setting
  • Working knowledge of pharmacy software
  • Familiarity with medical terminology
  • Strong attention to detail and prioritization skills
  • Strong listening, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Provide courteous customer service by greeting patients, answering questions in person and by phone, and assisting with over-the-counter selections, referring to the pharmacist as needed
  • Accurately operate the cash register, process payments, issue receipts, and balance the register at the end of each shift
  • Verify patient identity and authorization for prescription pickup, ensuring prescriptions are released to the correct patient
  • Collect, enter, and maintain insurance and prescription information while interpreting pharmacist and technician notes
  • Follow all pharmacy policies and procedures, including those related to special medication categories, safety protocols, and HIPAA confidentiality
  • Maintain pharmacy organization by stocking shelves, refilling vials, lids, bags, paper, and labels, and keeping work areas clean
  • Manage administrative and support tasks such as filing hard-copy prescriptions, maintaining invoices, organizing will-call prescriptions, and handling trash, recycling, and shredding
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support efficient pharmacy operations
