About The Position

To assist the pharmacist in providing pharmaceutical services that supports the mission, values and philosophy of Pharmacy Services and Sharp HealthCare.

Requirements

  • H.S. Diploma or Equivalent.
  • 1 Year experience in a retail pharmacy environment.

Responsibilities

  • Distribute medication to patients.
  • Greet personnel entering the pharmacy with a smile and acknowledge their presence.
  • Accurately gather and document patient's name, demographics, insurance information, drop off time, and known drug allergies for all walk-in prescription orders.
  • Double check each completed prescription prior to bagging, verifying the labeled medications match the enclosed bag ticket.
  • Refer all patient medication concerns, new prescriptions, and consultations to a Registered Pharmacist.
  • Check 'will call' shelf weekly to see if any medications have not been picked up.
  • Call patients and notify them that medications are ready for pick up.
  • Follow Return to Stock guidelines for all medications that are not picked up.
  • File original prescription hard copies numerically in designated prescription books each shift.
  • Document all medications picked up or delivered by having receiving party sign insurance log.
  • Accurately prepare prescriptions, refills, or balances for delivery or mail out prior to arrival of daily delivery driver.
  • Prepare the manifest and transmit the order for deliveries.
  • Follow up prior to closing if deliveries are not picked up by courier and arrange for pickup at alternate location.
  • Communicate to patients any delays in prescription processing and follow up with technical staff as appropriate.
  • Document all communication with patients regarding prescription status including but not limited to Call When Ready (CWR), medication shortage, etc.
  • Ask for second identifier with each patient when coming to pick up prescription.
  • Maintain appropriate levels of change in cash register.
  • Accurately handle all cash, charge, delivery, and doctor payroll deduct payments for all merchandise leaving the pharmacy.
  • Provide paying customers with a receipt for transactions.
  • Maintain adequate inventory of cash register and credit card machine supplies.
  • Perform end of day duties, including z-out register and credit card machine reconciliation.
  • Initial voided transactions and refunds appropriately following system standards.
  • Inform lead technician of 'unscanned' products to be added in the computer system.
  • Monitor and document refrigerator/freezer temperatures daily.
  • Assist with answering phone calls when time permits.
  • Remove outdated and unusable OTC medications.
  • Maintain neat and organized work areas.
  • Accurately inventory, order, and stock assigned areas daily prior to end of shift.
  • Create daily orders of OTC medications and supplies from wholesaler and transmit each morning and evening.
  • Place orders for medications directly from manufacturers and fill out Purchase Order appropriately.
  • Verify accuracy of order received from wholesaler, sticker appropriately, sign and date invoice.
  • Rotate and stock all snack products and soft drinks.
  • Rotate and stock all nonprescription items received from wholesalers, ensuring items are appropriately stickered.
  • Maintain neat and organized front-end area.
  • Return to stock medications following RTS policy and procedure.
  • Maintain Drug Representative Sign in log sheet.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of information to which he/she is privileged and follow HIPPA guidelines.
  • Be willing and able to fill in at other sites to help meet the needs of the pharmacy.
