About The Position

We are seeking a detail-oriented Pharmacy Buyer to support pharmacy operations by managing medication inventory, purchasing pharmaceuticals, and ensuring accurate receipt and documentation of drugs. This role plays a critical part in maintaining inventory accuracy, supporting sterile compounding processes, and ensuring compliance with internal procedures and regulatory standards. The ideal candidate is proactive, organized, and experienced in pharmacy purchasing or technician functions, with a strong commitment to accuracy and quality.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED (required)
  • Previous pharmacy technician experience (required)
  • Registered Maryland Board of Pharmacy Technician (required)
  • Basic computer proficiency (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Strong math and attention-to-detail skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift pharmacy supplies as required
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. as needed
  • Frequent concentration on detail and sustained attention
  • Potential exposure to hazardous drugs, chemicals, blood/body fluids, and other pharmacy-related risks

Nice To Haves

  • Pharmacy Technician education (preferred)
  • National pharmacy technician certification (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Monitor centralized and decentralized pharmacy inventory levels
  • Order pharmaceuticals through internal purchasing systems and prepare purchase orders
  • Verify packing slips and invoices for accuracy against received medications
  • Ensure all purchasing documentation is processed accurately through Accounts Payable
  • Maintain sterile compounding competency per pharmacy standards
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with pharmacy staff, vendors, and leadership
  • Provide accurate and timely written and electronic documentation in accordance with policies
  • Proactively identify and resolve inventory or purchasing issues
  • Demonstrate consistent professionalism and adherence to pharmacy practice standards
