About The Position

The Pharmacy Administrative Specialist at Houston Methodist is an advanced pharmacist practitioner responsible for coordinating pharmaceutical care, particularly within a dual-accredited specialty pharmacy program. This role involves developing training programs, managing workflows, ensuring regulatory compliance, and enhancing quality management to improve operational efficiency and patient safety. The specialist also serves as a mentor and role model for pharmacy staff and participates in various committees to support the department's mission of providing innovative and cost-effective pharmaceutical care.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved education program for required credentials.
  • Advanced degree (master's or Pharm.D) preferred.
  • Completion of ASHP-accredited PGY1 and PGY2 residency programs or equivalent experience.
  • Six years of relevant pharmacist experience, with leadership abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide and coordinate pharmaceutical care to patients.
  • Develop and implement training and education programs for pharmacy staff.

  • Oversee activities of assigned staff and ensure timely medication delivery.
  • Coordinate department reporting related to specialty focus area.
  • Participate in developing the department's annual budget related to specialty pharmacy.
  • Assist in planning and implementing new pharmacy programs and services.
