About The Position

General Summary: The Pharmacology Research Scientist works with a high degree of independence and is adept at conceptually outlining in vivo and in vitro immunological studies to design, execute and interpret assays to study the action of compounds on disease biology. Completes work in a resourceful, self-sufficient manner and is able to design alternative approaches to achieve desired outcomes. Keeps current on the scientific literature relevant to scientific methodology or field(s) of technical expertise. This level captures both the Research organization’s entry level for staff with a research doctoral degree (PhD) and the advanced experimental expert leading one or more critical laboratory functions with high impact on drug discovery projects.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to design, execute and interpret complex immunological and pharmacological in vivo and in vitro experiments, to measure the action of compounds in disease relevant contexts
  • Expertise in the development and optimization of complex in vivo models of inflammation or autoimmune diseases
  • Advanced skills in immunological techniques, such as flow cytometry, immunophenotyping, and in vitro/ex vivo cellular assays, to characterize immune responses and compound efficacy.
  • Proficiency in a wide range of in vivo techniques, including routes of administration, blood/tissue harvesting, and processing for cellular/molecular analyses of immune responses and target engagement in immune models
  • A broad working knowledge of fundamental immunology and pharmacology principles
  • Demonstrates astute understanding of own discipline and the relevant literature
  • Maintains a high level of knowledge related to current developments in the scientific Project field
