About the position

The position is responsible for the efficient, ethical, and lawful compounding and dispensing of prescription pharmaceuticals. The role involves advising customers on medication use and storage, maintaining pharmaceutical stock, and overseeing pharmacy technicians. The pharmacist will ensure compliance with legal regulations and company standards while providing high-quality customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Receive prescription and refill requests from customers and clinics and fill prescriptions efficiently and accurately.
  • Dispense medications as prescribed and oversee the accurate retrieving, counting, pouring, weighing, mixing, packaging, and labeling of products.
  • Provide medication counsel and advise customers on prescription and over-the-counter medications regarding use, dosage, drug interactions, and storage.
  • Order, stock, check inventory, and perform cycle counts in the pharmacy for both prescription and over-the-counter items.
  • Review and validate received orders for amount, quality, count, or weight, and ensure all products are stored in appropriate areas.
  • Handle outdated or damaged products per established guidelines.
  • Maintain pharmacy records including customer profiles, insurance forms, and inventories.
  • Lead and oversee pharmacy technicians and interns to ensure efficient service.
  • Communicate with the Pharmacy Manager about potential concerns.
  • Maintain a clean and well-stocked department in compliance with company standards.
  • Implement pharmacy programs such as security measures and immunizations.
  • Maintain current knowledge of legal regulations and industry trends, making recommendations for improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy or related field required.
  • Doctorate degree in Pharmacy preferred.
  • Three years of experience in a pharmaceutical department.
  • Pharmacy License (in good standing) required in the state of operation.
  • Strong knowledge of HIPAA Privacy and Security Rules, pharmacy laws, rules, and guidelines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Strong multi-tasking, organization, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
  • Good leadership abilities with capability to work in a hands-on environment.
  • Successfully completes required continuing education hours and maintains Pharmacy License in good standing.
  • Working knowledge of perpetual inventory procedures.
  • Proficient in Word and Excel.

Nice-to-haves

  • Immunization Certification preferred.
  • Bilingual skills helpful based on demographic region.
