About The Position
The Pharmacist is responsible for providing safe, accurate, and effective pharmaceutical care by dispensing medications, reviewing prescriptions, and counseling patients. This role ensures compliance with regulatory standards while collaborating with healthcare professionals to support optimal patient outcomes.
Requirements
- Active Pharmacist license in New York State
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an accredited program
- Previous hospital or retail pharmacy experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of pharmacology, medication safety, and regulatory compliance
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently during overnight shifts
Responsibilities
- Dispense prescription medications accurately in accordance with physician orders
- Review prescriptions for correct dosage, contraindications, and potential drug interactions
- Counsel patients on medication usage, side effects, storage, and adherence
- Provide guidance on over-the-counter medications and health products
- Monitor patient medication therapy and recommend adjustments as appropriate
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and facility pharmacy laws and safety standards
- Maintain accurate patient profiles, prescription records, and pharmacy documentation
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals regarding patient care
- Supervise pharmacy technicians and support staff to ensure workflow efficiency
- Manage medication inventory, including ordering, storage, and controlled substances
- Administer immunizations and perform health screenings when authorized
- Process insurance claims and resolve prescription or billing-related issues
