About The Position

As a part-time Pharmacist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and effective use of medications for patients across diverse healthcare settings. Your primary objective will be to dispense prescription medications accurately while providing expert guidance on drug interactions, side effects, and proper usage to both patients and healthcare professionals. You will collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers to optimize therapeutic outcomes and contribute to patient care plans. Additionally, you will be responsible for maintaining compliance with federal and state pharmacy laws and regulations, ensuring all pharmacy operations meet the highest standards of safety and quality. Your expertise will also support health promotion initiatives and patient education to improve overall community health outcomes.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PHARMD) degree from an accredited institution.
  • Valid and active pharmacist license to practice in Virginia.
  • Strong knowledge of pharmacology, drug interactions, and pharmaceutical calculations.
  • Experience with pharmacy management systems and electronic health records (EHR).
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively counsel patients and collaborate with healthcare teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in immunization delivery or other relevant pharmacy certifications.
  • Experience working in diverse healthcare settings such as community pharmacies.
  • Familiarity with 340b Pharmacy Programs
  • Proficiency in additional languages to support diverse patient populations.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately dispense prescription medications to patients and verify the appropriateness of prescribed therapies.
  • Provide detailed counseling to patients regarding medication usage, potential side effects, and storage requirements.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to review and optimize medication regimens and ensure patient safety.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and pharmacy documentation in compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
  • Monitor inventory levels, order medications, and ensure proper storage conditions to maintain drug efficacy.
  • Stay current with new medications, pharmaceutical research, and changes in pharmacy laws and regulations.
  • Participate in health promotion and disease prevention programs by educating patients and the community.
