JOB SUMMARY: Miller County Hospital pharmacy has a hospital and retail pharmacy license to serve both our 25 bed Critical Access Hospital, two nursing homes and employee prescriptions. One nursing home has a ventilator unit requires extensive clinical services. The Pharmacist interprets orders and transcribes or verifies them accurately and efficiently into the pharmacy computer system. They accurately compound and dispense pharmaceuticals. The Pharmacist will monitor drug therapy regimens for contraindications, drug-drug interactions, drug-food interactions, allergies and appropriateness of drug and dose. They suggest appropriate, cost-effective therapeutic medication alternatives to medical staff. Assists with clinical services such as drug consults, nutrition support, pharmacokinetics, anticoagulant monitoring, pain management, IV to PO, renal dosing, antibiotic stewardship and other programs as defined by Pharmacy Leadership. They will comply with facility policy, procedures, and regulatory requirements. The Pharmacist oversees technicians and the daily pharmacy operation. The pharmacist checks that prescriptions filled for employees and nursing home residents are filled accurately and in a timely manner. The pharmacist works well with the hospital and nursing homes to provide the best pharmaceutical support possible.
