Job Summary: The oncology pharmacist position is responsible for providing clinical support and consultative services in a complex health system pharmacy operation. The pharmacist works with the healthcare team to promote medication safety, customer service, process improvement, clinical and formulary programs and initiatives and regulatory compliance. The oncology pharmacist will act as a resource in the development and education of students, residents, staff, and interdisciplinary members of the care team. Oncology related activities may include clinical pharmacy support for medical oncology and order support for ambulatory infusion center oncology patients. A Brief Overview Responsible for ensuring the safe, effective, and economical use of medications for patients of all ages. This role involves preparing and dispensing prescriptions, advising healthcare professionals on drug therapies, monitoring patient medication regimens, and conducting patient education on drug use. The Pharmacist collaborates with medical staff to manage patient treatments, ensuring compliance with health system policies and regulatory requirements. Oversees the activities of pharmacy technical staff and interns. Additional responsibilities may include committee involvement, teaching, and participating in clinical research and continuing education to stay current with medical advancements.
