Highlights: Summary: The Pharmacist shall be responsible for medication order entry, preparation and distribution for patients. The Pharmacist will help to ensure the appropriate prescription and administration of medications to patients within the institution. This position may have additional duties assigned that are within scope of the role.The Pharmacy Technician shall be responsible to perform most of the technical functions involved in the medication use process. This individual shall assist the Pharmacist in the preparation and compounding of pharmaceutical products, assessing inventory of pharmacy products, and resolving problems with insurance claims as they arise during the dispensing function, as applicable to location. Cross training in one key functional area [examples provided in Technician Career Ladder]. This position may have additional duties assigned that are within scope of the role.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of pharmacy required
  • Active RPH required
  • Active Alabama Controlled Substance certification required
  • BLS required
  • Ability to accurately perform computer order entry duties.
  • Proficient in needed pharmaceutical calculations and the metric system.
  • Basic knowledge in pharmacokinetic calculations and parenteral nutrition management.
  • Knowledge of aseptic technique.
  • Evidence of commitment to continuing education.

Nice To Haves

  • PharmD degree preferred
  • PGY1 residency or 3 or more years of inpatient practice preferred
  • BPS certification preferred
