Provides prescribed medications, drugs and other pharmaceuticals as needed for adequate patient care, according to professional standards and practices. Essential Functions of the Job: Clinically evaluates patient status and drug therapy, including close screening of individual drug orders and general medication prescribing practices for all patient populations. Advises physicians on drug selection, dosing, monitoring and prevention of adverse drug events and interactions. Prepares reports and written documentation as required by the department, company, state, and federal agencies. Supervises support staff and is accountable for compounding and dispensing all requirements and pharmacy department policies and procedures. Participates in medication utilization evaluations and performance improvement programs. Participates in the orientation of new staff and student training programs. Promotes cost effective pharmacotherapy including follow-up on formulary compliance issues. Additional Duties and Responsibilities Follows established departmental policies and procedures, objectives of the quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards. Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops. Attends meetings as required and participates in committees as directed. Performs related duties as assigned or requested. Provide pharmacy services with courtesy, efficiency, and cooperation.
