About The Position

As a full-time Pharmacist at Larkin Community Hospital, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and effective use of medications for patients. You will be responsible for accurately dispensing prescription medications while providing expert advice on their proper use, potential side effects, and interactions. Your role will involve collaborating closely with healthcare providers to optimize patient outcomes and support public health initiatives. You will also manage inventory, maintain compliance with regulatory standards, and educate patients on health and wellness topics. Ultimately, your work will contribute to improving patient care and safety within the community.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an accredited institution.
  • Valid and active pharmacist license in the state of employment within the United States.
  • Strong knowledge of pharmacology, drug interactions, and pharmaceutical calculations.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively counsel patients and collaborate with healthcare teams.
  • Ability to comply with all regulatory and safety standards governing pharmacy practice.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with pharmacy management software and electronic health record systems.
  • Certification in immunization delivery or other specialized pharmacy services.
  • Previous experience working in a retail, hospital, or clinical pharmacy setting.
  • Additional training or certification in medication therapy management (MTM).
  • Bilingual abilities to serve diverse patient populations effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Dispense prescription medications accurately and efficiently according to legal and ethical standards.
  • Provide counseling to patients on medication usage, side effects, interactions, and storage.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal medication therapy.
  • Manage pharmacy inventory, including ordering, stocking, and monitoring expiration dates.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local pharmacy laws and regulations.
  • Document patient information and pharmacy activities accurately in electronic health records.
  • Participate in health promotion and disease prevention initiatives within the community.
  • Supervise pharmacy technicians and support staff to ensure quality service delivery.
