The position involves ensuring the appropriate selection, dosing, administering, and dispensing of medication orders. The pharmacist will play a crucial role in reviewing and assessing medication orders to identify, prevent, and resolve potential and actual drug-related problems, while also recommending formulary alternatives when appropriate. The role includes compounding and dispensing medications for accurate delivery to patients, providing drug information and education to medical staff and patients, and communicating with physicians and other clinicians as necessary to facilitate care. Additionally, the pharmacist will oversee technical personnel who assist in the preparation, maintenance, and dispensing of medications and supplies, and may assist with academic functions such as serving as a preceptor for pharmacy students. The pharmacist may also float to provide coverage of pharmacy needs and is expected to provide patient counseling efficiently and effectively when required.
