About The Position

The position involves coordinating and managing pharmacy services, including dispensing medications, quality assurance, and clinical monitoring activities. The pharmacist will also supervise pharmacy technicians and interns, assist in training, and participate in performance improvement projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in pharmacy and 3+ years of mail order, retail or hospital pharmacy experience OR Pharm D.
  • Current state's Pharmacist license and license at other states as required.

  • Multi state licensure preferred or the ability to quickly obtain additional state licensure.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and assist in managing pharmacy services.
  • Assess the patient's general pharmaceutical needs.
  • Plan for the pharmaceutical services provision.
  • Participate in the overall plan of care.
  • Participate in the overall quality assessment and improvement plan.
  • Receive physician prescription orders and evaluate their appropriateness.
  • Supervise the filling, receiving, compounding, and dispensing activities.
  • Ensure patient charts are complete for allergies, medical history, and medications.
  • Order necessary laboratory tests and discuss results with healthcare team.
  • Provide patient counseling, education, and monitoring.
  • Ensure safety of patients and personnel by exercising good pharmacy practice.
  • Manage inventory and avoid waste by determining remaining doses on hand.
  • Provide clinical interventions and assess responses to therapy.
  • Document all communication with healthcare professionals in patient charts.
  • Assist in maintaining paperwork required by state and federal agencies.
  • Assist the Pharmacy Manager in implementing new procedures.
  • Train and supervise Pharmacy Technicians and Interns.
  • Participate in Performance Improvement Projects.
  • Provide in-service programs on drug therapy to nursing and pharmacy personnel.
  • Attend and complete education and training programs.
  • Review literature pertinent to pharmacy practice.
  • Complete all competency/skills assessment requirements.
  • Participate in on-call schedule.
  • Perform other tasks as determined by the Pharmacist-In-Charge.
