Job Summary Memorial Hermann Texas Medical Center, is seeking a full-time Pharmacist to join our team. Work Hours: Mon-Fri/8a-6p(hours vary) & Rotating weekends This position will be working in Retail at TMC location and floating to Specialty at Katy location The Fulfillment Pharmacist II works according to legal and ethical guidelines to ensure the correct and safe supply of prescriptions and supplies to Specialty Pharmacy patients. They provide patient centered care including, but not limited to: oversight, monitoring, preparation, dispensing, and proper documentation of patient medication therapy. The pharmacist also ensures compliance with Federal, State and local laws and regulations as well as proper medication storage and documentation. The Fulfillment Pharmacist reports to the Director of Specialty Pharmacy.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of pharmacy.
  • Current State of Texas license/permit to practice pharmacy.
  • Two or more (2+) years experience in clinical area of practice.
  • Knowledge of specialty medications.
  • Familiarity with health care reimbursement.

Nice To Haves

  • Specialty pharmacy experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares labels and dispenses medications for patients in accordance with physicians' prescriptions; ensures compliance with Federal, State and local laws and regulations pertaining to the dispensing of drugs, including narcotics and the maintenance or required records.
  • Answers questions and provides information to pharmacy customers on drug interactions, side effects, dosage, administration and medication storage.
  • Receives and reviews all prescriptions for accuracy and clinical appropriateness.
  • Ensures that complete and accurate business and clinical records are maintained.
  • Supervises the activities of the pharmacy technical staff and mentors or trains pharmacists, pharmacy students or residents.
  • Maintains medication profiles, reviews profiles for drug related problems, and provides consultation on drug research.
  • Maintains the scheduling and preparation of routine and new prescription orders.
  • Initiates reports of medication errors or adverse drug interactions.
  • Works closely with the Director of Specialty Pharmacy to coordinate daily operations and the implementations of new and existing programs.
  • Complies with all regulatory requirements, including HIPAA/HITECH.
  • Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.
  • Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff.
