About The Position

The Pharmacist - Specialty Pharmacist will practice in an integrated, team-based care model providing pharmaceutical care and drug distribution services in accordance with policies, practice standards, and regulatory requirements. The pharmacist will develop and maintain positive relationships with nurses, providers, patients, and other members of the care team to achieve desired outcomes and excellent patient care. The position will support all aspects of the daily pharmacy department activities, including training of new staff and pharmacy students, supervision of the pharmacy technicians and interns, resolution of customer service issues, billing, record keeping, monthly audits, and other functions necessary for optimal specialty pharmacy performance. The specialty pharmacist will assist in process improvement initiatives, optimizing medication utilization, improving medication safety, and other duties as assigned by the Specialty Pharmacy Manager.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of experience as a practicing pharmacist
  • Experience with the dispensing and monitoring of specialty drugs highly preferred
  • Pharm.D. or B.S. Pharmacy from a college of pharmacy accredited by the American Council on Pharmaceutical Education
  • Licensed as a Registered Pharmacist by the Minnesota and Wisconsin Board of Pharmacy
  • Certified Specialty Pharmacist (CSP) credential through NASP. If not already certified as a CSP, must obtain the credential within 9 months from completing 3000 hours of Specialty Pharmacy practice within 4 years
  • If not licensed as a Registered Pharmacist upon hire, the candidate must have a Pharmacy Intern License and/or is eligible to work as an intern and must become a Registered Pharmacist within 90 days of hire
  • Ongoing continuing education and license renewal as required by the state's Board of Pharmacy

Nice To Haves

  • Successful completion of a residency program preferred
  • Board Certification in Oncology (BCOP), Ambulatory Care (BCACP), or Pharmacotherapy (BCPS)
