This job ensures accurate dispensing and delivery of medications to patients. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, providing drug information to patients and healthcare providers, overseeing the fulfillment team members to ensure complete and timely receipt of medications, counseling, and compliance with drug therapy, and maintaining inventory and all logs. Ensures proper procedure is followed in the shipment and delivery of medications.

Requirements

  • Education Required – Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy
  • Work Experience Required – 2 years’ experience as a pharmacist
  • Certification Required – License to practice Pharmacy in the State of Louisiana
  • Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of patient information.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process.
  • Must be proficient with Windows-style applications, various software packages specific to role and keyboard.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong Excel skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred – Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD)
  • Preferred – Experience in specialty pharmacy
  • Experience with chronically ill patients
  • Preferred – Multi -state licensure

Responsibilities

  • Performs patient assessments, manages refills, provides patient counseling, and performs appropriate clinical interventions when necessary to optimize patient care.
  • Maintains inventory, manages workflow, performs drug utilization review, product verification, and shipping of medications.
  • Oversees the work of the Fulfillment team; provides feedback, coaching, and direction as needed.
  • Communicates and acts as liaison between insurance company, patients, providers, and specialty pharmacy team.
  • Maintains documentation relative to the job.
  • Assumes responsibility for professional development and continued education, and multi-state licensure.
  • Maintains and fosters an environment of teamwork and engagement.
  • Assists with special projects/ committees.
  • Performs all job duties in accordance with company Specialty Pharmacy policies and accrediting bodies.
  • Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.
  • Other related duties as required.
