About The Position

The position is for a PRN Pharmacist in the Retail area at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. The pharmacist will be responsible for all aspects of pharmaceutical care, including the safe and appropriate use of medications, managing selected drug therapies, and the dispensing, compounding, labeling, and storage of pharmaceuticals. The role also involves educating patients, nurses, and physicians. Staff pharmacists will manage daily workflow, supervise, train, and validate the work performed by Pharmacy Technicians, Clerks, Intern Pharmacists, and newly hired Pharmacists.

Requirements

• Doctorate Degree in Pharm.D. or B.S. Degree in Pharmacy required.
• 1 year of Hospital/Retail or related Pharmacy experience required.
• Registered Pharmacist in the State of Georgia required.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for all aspects of pharmaceutical care including safe and appropriate use of medications.
• Manage selected drug therapies.
• Dispense, compound, label, and store pharmaceuticals.
• Participate in the education of patients, nurses, and physicians.
• Supervise technical and support staff.
• Manage departmental responsibilities and daily workflow processes.
• Provide direction and gain compliance from technical and support staff.
• Assist with training and development of pharmacy staff.
• Document and submit required information and data in a timely manner.
• Demonstrate technical skill in using equipment appropriate for the role.
• Maintain equipment in working order and troubleshoot problems.
• Develop and show competency in pharmacy skills such as order processing, pharmacokinetics, and antibiotic stewardship.
