About The Position

The Pharmacist at BioPlus Specialty Pharmacy, now part of CarelonRx, is responsible for performing the duties of a licensed pharmacist, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations governing pharmaceuticals, and maintaining safety and security of medications. This role involves direct interaction with customers and prescribers, providing essential information and support throughout the medication management process.

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree in Pharmacy or Pharm D required.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience working as a Pharmacist or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid Registered Pharmacist license required.

Nice To Haves

  • Specialty pharmacy experience preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working as a Pharmacist in a retail setting preferred.
  • Licensure in Florida highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains established procedures concerning quality assurance, security and inventory of controlled substances, and disposal of drugs designated as hazardous waste.
  • Receives and reviews prescriptions issued by prescribing practitioners to assure accuracy and appropriateness of medication.
  • Ensures compliance with laws governing the practice of pharmacy and distribution of drugs.
  • Answers questions and provides information to pharmacy customers on drug interactions, side effects, dosage, and storage of pharmaceuticals.
  • Engages in consultation with prescribers regarding interpretation of prescription information as needed.
  • Ensures that stock and supplies necessary for customer care are ordered, stored, and handled efficiently in the absence of the Lead Pharmacist and/or manager.
  • Prepares, fills, and compounds drugs and orders by prescribers and other authorized personnel.
  • Offers free counseling to customers on how to use devices such as blood pressure or diabetes monitors.
  • Strives to improve efficiency and reduce costs in the pharmacy area.
  • Plans, implements, and maintains procedures for mixing, packaging, and labeling pharmaceuticals according to policy and legal requirements.
