Pharmacist Intern Orlando Health Position Summary Under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist, the Pharmacy Intern performs pharmacy technician functions in compliance with all Orlando Health policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. This role supports safe medication preparation, distribution, and quality assurance while gaining hands‑on experience in an acute care pharmacy environment. Essential Functions Participates in pharmacy quality assurance and performance improvement activities, including outdated drug monitoring, Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) programs, unit dose packaging, IV Room QA, PI logs, and USP <797> compliance. Prepares and dispenses medications using automated dispensing systems and established workflows in accordance with scientific principles, Orlando Health policy, and pharmacist oversight. Compounds and dispenses intravenous medications using proper aseptic technique under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist. Accurately assists pharmacists with medication distribution activities, including admixture preparation (e.g., chemotherapy) and automated dispensing cabinet (ADC) workflows. Operates pharmacy equipment and technology in accordance with manufacturer instructions, safety standards, and departmental procedures. Performs assigned pharmacy technician duties consistent with regulatory standards and departmental expectations. Maintains required USP <797> documentation and other regulatory records. Ensures safe handling, storage, and disposal of medications and hazardous materials. Maintains the controlled substance vault, perpetual inventory, and related documentation as assigned. Completes special projects and departmental initiatives as assigned. Maintains regular and punctual attendance in accordance with Orlando Health policies, ADA, FMLA, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations. Complies with all Orlando Health policies and procedures. Education & Training High School Diploma or GED required. Currently enrolled in and attending an ACPE‑Accredited (or pending accreditation) College or School of Pharmacy. Must be in the 1st or 2nd professional year of pharmacy school. Licensure / Certification Registered with the Florida Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Intern (required). Experience No prior pharmacy experience required.
