About The Position

Oversees the nightly operation of the pharmacy. Ensures the safe and effective use of medications by providing optimal drug product selection dosage regimen design effective administration drug therapy monitoring services and supervision of the medication dispensing process in the Medical Center. This position is classified as exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). Employees in exempt positions are paid on a salary basis and are not eligible for overtime compensation. This classification is based on the duties and responsibilities of the role, which meet the criteria for the Professional exemption. The anticipated schedule arrangement for the successful incumbent is 7 nights on, 7 nights off (Thursday-Wednesday). Empower patient care through clinical and operational excellence. Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree
  • Experience: No experience required
  • Licensure/Certifications: Commonwealth of Virginia State Board of Pharmacy License required. American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.

  • Experience: Experience supporting operations in an Inpatient Pharmacy operations setting

Responsibilities

  • Deliver expert pharmacy support across 679 beds, on night shift (7 days on/7 days off, Thursday night through Wednesday night rotation).
  • Train and become an expert on: Inpatient Operations Sterile and Non-Sterile Compounding Operations Controlled Substances Operations Triaging nursing and provider pharmacy services needs
  • Gain additional exposure to direct clinical patient care, with flexibility to cover shifts as needed and based on skills and performance.
  • Participate in additional rotational night shift coverage
  • Collaborate on protocol development, guideline updates, and departmental goals.
  • Ensure safe, effective medication use through order verification, regimen design, and therapy monitoring.
  • Partner with pharmacy leadership and medical staff to optimize patient care and drug therapies.
