The Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) is responsible for leading all pharmacy compliance, regulatory oversight, and controlled substance management for GlobalRx. This role is critical to ensuring the company operates in full compliance with all federal and state regulations. The PIC is expected to take full ownership of DEA registration, pharmacy licensing, controlled substance compliance, and inspection readiness. This is not a traditional retail pharmacist role. The position requires a strong understanding of pharmaceutical distribution, regulatory requirements, and operational workflows, along with the ability to build and maintain a compliant, scalable infrastructure as the business grows. Requirements Core Responsibilities Regulatory & Compliance Ownership Serve as the Pharmacist-in-Charge for GlobalRx. Maintain and take responsibility for: DEA registration State pharmacy licenses Wholesale distributor compliance requirements Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, including: DEA FDA State Boards of Pharmacy DSCSA Act as the primary point of contact for all regulatory agencies and inspections. Maintain inspection readiness at all times. Controlled Substance Oversight Take full responsibility for controlled substance compliance. Oversee: Inventory management and reconciliation Ordering and recordkeeping Suspicious order monitoring Maintain all required DEA documentation and logs. Lead internal audits to ensure compliance. SOP Development & Compliance Infrastructure Develop, update, and maintain all pharmacy-related SOPs, including: Controlled substances Drug storage and handling Cold chain management Short-dated product procedures Recall and quarantine processes DSCSA compliance Ensure SOPs are implemented, followed, and kept up to date. Train staff on compliance procedures. Inspection Readiness Ensure the company is always prepared for: DEA inspections Board of Pharmacy inspections Regulatory audits Maintain all required documentation and records. Lead responses to any regulatory inquiries. Pharmaceutical Oversight Provide guidance on: Drug safety and handling Stability and temperature excursions Specialty and high-cost medications Review and approve compliance-related decisions involving product handling and distribution. Support teams with regulatory input when needed. Operational Compliance Support Work cross-functionally with operations, procurement, and logistics teams to ensure compliant workflows. Review processes and identify compliance risks. Provide solutions and implement improvements to maintain compliance. What This Role Is Not To ensure focus on compliance and regulatory leadership, the PIC should not be responsible for: Routine order processing or shipping tasks Customer quoting or sales support Administrative or clerical work not related to compliance Qualifications Required PharmD or RPh degree from an accredited program Active North Carolina Pharmacist License and out-of-state licensing across all 50 states Eligible to serve as Pharmacist-in-Charge Willing to be listed on DEA registration and state licenses Strong knowledge of DEA, FDA, and pharmacy regulations Preferred Experience in pharmaceutical distribution or wholesale Experience with controlled substances Familiarity with DSCSA and export regulations Expectations for the Role Take full ownership of compliance and regulatory responsibilities Operate as the internal subject matter expert on pharmacy regulations Proactively identify and resolve compliance risks Build and maintain a strong compliance framework Support the company’s growth while ensuring regulatory integrity Summary This role is responsible for protecting GlobalRx from regulatory risk while enabling the company to grow safely and compliantly. The Pharmacist-in-Charge must operate with accountability, ownership, and a proactive approach to compliance and regulatory oversight. Salary Description Pay Range: $130k-$140k annually
