About The Position

As the Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) of a 503B outsourcing facility, you will be responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance, promoting patient safety, and driving operational excellence. You’ll oversee adherence to state and federal regulations, lead inspection readiness, and partner cross-functionally to uphold cGMP and quality standards. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy (PharmD preferred)
  • 8+ years of pharmacy experience, with 5+ years as a PIC or Pharmacy Manager
  • 2+ years of compounding experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of state and federal pharmacy laws and regulations
  • Active, unencumbered pharmacist license in home state (or ability to obtain)
  • Willingness to become licensed in all required non-resident states
  • Proficiency in Windows-based systems and strong written/verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work flexible shifts and lead within a fast-paced environment
  • An active license in the State of California

Nice To Haves

  • Active or eligible for licensure in multiple states: AZ, MD, VA, WV, LA, AL, MI, MS, TX, OR, KS, OK, TN, AR, KY, AK, OH
  • Experience with regulatory compliance, pharmacy audits, or inspection management
  • Strong knowledge of cGMP and FDA guidance
  • Experience with investigations, root cause analyses and continuous quality improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure full compliance with state and federal pharmacy regulations, including FDA, DEA, State Board of Pharmacy and State Department of Health requirements.
  • Serve as the Supervising Pharmacist per DQSA and PIC, designated person for State Regulatory bodies as required.
  • Serve as the Clinical Expert providing oversight for labeling, medication safety and regulatory reporting.
  • Lead preparation for and management of state and federal inspections (e.g., FDA, Board of Pharmacy).
  • Collaborate with the Quality team to develop and maintain internal audit and inspection programs.
  • Maintain up-to-date understanding of 503B outsourcing facility requirements, including current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP).
  • Coordinate with the Licensing Manager to ensure timely renewal of all required licenses and certifications.
  • Partner with the Quality Director and Head of Sterile Compounding operations to ensure safety and quality of compounded preparations.
  • Approve and monitor Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for alignment with regulatory requirements and best practices.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives that drive operational efficiency and patient safety.
  • Ensure adherence to HIPAA and PHI privacy regulations.
  • Partner with the Quality team to ensure proper adverse drug event (ADE) and adverse effect reporting to the FDA and Boards of Pharmacy.
  • Provide pharmacy expertise during new product development and launches.
  • Lead and mentor pharmacy staff to maintain a culture of teamwork, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
  • Foster a collaborative environment that promotes quality and accountability across all pharmacy functions.
