Chenega Government Mission Solutions, LLC, a Chenega Professional Services’ company, is looking for a Pharmacist II (Locum Tenens) in support of the Indian Health Service's Crow/Northern Cheyenne Service Unit in Crow Agency, Montana. The Pharmacist shall deliver quality care to attain positive health outcomes for all our valued patients with emphasis on cultural sensitivity and human dignity. Pharmacists in Ambulatory Care/Outpatient full-time shift schedules Monday – Friday, 8hr shifts with 30-minute lunches. Pharmacists in Acute Care/Inpatient full-time shift schedule, 10-hour shifts 4 days per week with 3 days per week scheduled off and 30-minute lunch.

Requirements

  • One (1) to three (3) years of clinical pharmacy experience in ambulatory or inpatient care.
  • Bachelor or Doctor of Pharmacy Degree from an accredited pharmacy school program.
  • Current certification in BLS (Basic Life Support).
  • Applicants must have an active, unrestricted, and free of disciplinary action license as a Pharmacist in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a Territory of the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of a PGY-1 residency or equivalent clinical experience preferred
  • Certification in immunization delivery or other clinical pharmacy services (e.g., diabetes, asthma)

Responsibilities

  • Screen patient charts to ensure medication orders are aligned with the chart note as well as lab work, vitals, allergies, etc.
  • Process new medication orders.
  • Fill prescription orders when needed.
  • Check filled prescription orders for accuracy.
  • Educate patients on medication therapy.
  • Provide patient education.
  • Work in a collaborative fashion with the pharmacy team and providers to ensure timely and accurate pharmaceutical services.
  • Answer provider questions regarding drug therapy and question providers when appropriate to ensure the proper medication, in the proper dose and dosage form is dispensed to the patient.
  • Recognize life-threatening emergencies, initiate and maintain resuscitation measures and other emergency procedures as appropriate to the situation.
  • Recognize adverse reactions to medications, treatments, and procedures and initiate interventions as appropriate to the situation.
  • Answer and screen telephone calls, take refill requests, and input outside prescriptions into the system.
  • Perform controlled substance audits as/if directed
  • Help put away order as needed.
  • I.V. admixtures and inpatient drug distribution will be carried out based on patient care needs and following Service Unit policies and procedures.
  • Administer immunizations (certification required)
  • Participate in training and competency activities including: Annual safety and infection control
  • Other duties as assigned
