This job is under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist. Maintains and ensures complete and appropriate drug therapy in a multidisciplinary pharmaceutical care environment according to appropriate guidelines. Prepares, dispenses and records medications ordered for an assigned group of patients, using safe, rational and cost-effective therapeutic decision making. Reviews, evaluates and monitors patient drug therapy, provides drug information and patient education, and other clinical pharmacy services. Oversees the day-to-day activities of technical and clerical staff assisting in the above.

  • Assesses Medications Orders Therapy
  • Prepares and dispenses medications
  • Manages drug therapy to optimize patient outcomes
  • Maintains professional certifications and technical knowledge
  • Manages a variety of projects for the department
  • Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.
  • Other related duties as required.
  • Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy
  • Eligibility for licensure to practice pharmacy in the State of Louisiana (must acquire licensure in within reasonable amount of time, determined on a case by case basis).
  • Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of patient information.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited College of Pharmacy
