The consultant pharmacist interacts with professional staff, technical staff, lay staff and clients in an effort to promote and maintain superior standards of quality that is professionally acceptable to Skilled Nursing Pharmacy and the consumers that are served by Skilled Nursing Pharmacy. In addition, the consultant pharmacist will assist the consultant pharmacist manager and management in implementing regional objectives as determined and directed by the governing body. The consultant pharmacist will be responsible for performing drug regimen reviews and nursing unit inspection. He/she will participate at the long-term center’s Quality Assurance Committee, infection control committee, and other committees requiring a pharmacist’s expertise. The consultant will provide pharmacist-to-nursing in-services. The consultant pharmacist will review with the Director of Nursing and the Administrator all relevant changes in state and federal pharmacy regulations and changes in Skilled Nursing Pharmacy policy and procedures. The consultant pharmacist will serve on the implementation team of their assigned center. The consultant pharmacist must attend consultant pharmacist meetings and work the schedules proposed by the consultant pharmacist manager.
