About The Position

Geisinger offers community pharmacists a $10,000.00 sign-on bonus for eligible candidates (full-time). Join our team at Geisinger Enterprise Pharmacy! Our mission is to provide exceptional patient care through innovative, efficient, and high-quality pharmacy services. Functions as a pharmacist at the Retail Site Pharmacy and provides efficient, accurate, and safe medication services to patient/customers by filling physicians prescriptions after evaluating individual medical needs, consulting appropriate references, and counseling physicians and other health professionals, if needed. Assumes overall responsibility for the pharmacy by delegating authority to pharmacy technicians and other non-clinical staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy (Required)
  • Minimum of 2 years related work experience (Required)
  • Licensed Pharmacist in Pennsylvania (Required)

Responsibilities

  • Assumes responsibility for the delivery of pharmaceutical care to patients by interpreting prescriptions.
  • Makes necessary professional determinations regarding medications and various drug interactions.
  • Conducts drug utilization review, generic substitution, and accurately fills and dispenses prescriptions.
  • Processes prescriptions by receiving them via telephone or in person, reviewing against medication profiles.
  • Enters patient medical, demographic, and insurance information to ensure a complete medication profile.
  • Provides necessary counseling to physicians and patients to ensure accurate delivery of medication.
  • Identifies and resolves routine prescribing, formulary, and therapeutic issues.
  • Coordinates and supervises all activities at the CareSite Pharmacy.
  • Supervises, advises, and assists pharmacy technicians and assumes final responsibility for their work.
  • Confers with physicians and clinical personnel on matters relating to drug therapy.
  • Prepares special medications involving compounding, IV admixtures, and other sterile products.
  • Suggests improvements and changes to improve operations at the CareSite Pharmacy.
  • Assists the manager in ordering medications and supplies to maintain inventory levels.
  • Assumes responsibility of pharmacy operations as assigned by the manager.
