About The Position

We are seeking an outstanding Clinical Pharmacist to provide specialized, comprehensive pharmaceutical care in our fast-paced, high-acuity Critical Care environment. Cook Children’s promotes superior work-life balance with our highly sought-after 7 days on, 7 days off schedule with generous PTO. We are actively expanding our overnight team to enhance scheduling flexibility and support our critical services. Schedule and Focus: This position is primarily designated for overnight shifts, with some selective day shift opportunities available. Your core clinical focus will be on providing inpatient Critical Care services (NICU, PICU, CICU). The role includes cross-training and staffing opportunities in the Emergency Department and Central Pharmacy, ensuring seamless coverage across all high-priority service lines during periods of team vacation. Requirements

  • Graduate from an American Council on Pharmacy Education accredited school of pharmacy.
  • Experience in critical care or emergency medicine preferred.
  • Preference given to candidates with completion of a PGY1 Residency; completion of a PGY2 Pediatric Critical Care Residency is highly desired.
  • Texas Pharmacist and Pharmacy Preceptor licensures must be obtained within 90 days of employment. New graduates must obtain preceptor license within 90 days after one year of being licensed as a pharmacist
  • CPR – BLS and PALS required

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in critical care, emergency medicine, or pediatrics preferred.
  • Strong clinical judgment and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Medication Verification and Dispensing: Accurately verify and dispense medications in accordance with established protocols and regulations.
  • Clinical Pharmacy Support: Provide expert clinical pharmacy services, including medication therapy management, drug information, and patient counseling.
  • Code Response: Actively participate in code response teams, ensuring timely and appropriate medication administration.
  • Patient Care Unit Support: Collaborate with healthcare providers to optimize patient care, addressing medication-related issues and providing therapeutic recommendations.
