POSITION SUMMARY The Pharmacist is responsible for providing medication therapy management services in collaboration with other providers to assure that drug therapy is safe, effective, efficient and cost-effective. Pharmacy services provided include interdisciplinary patient care, medication reconciliation, medication therapy monitoring, medication orders management, patient education, drug information, drug dosing, and various scholarly activities. The Pharmacist performs both clinical and distributive tasks necessary to ensure that patients’ medication therapy is safe, effective, timely and efficient. Acts independently within the scope of their license and areas of expertise with the help of general policies, procedures and practice guidelines with support from the Pharmacy Manager. The pharmacist ensures that patient care is maintained through compliance with the department's policies, rules and regulations promulgated by the Board of Pharmacy, and other applicable regulatory bodies. In the absence of the Pharmacy Manager, this position will be required to coordinate daily operations in compliance with all laws governing the practice of pharmacy and distribution of drugs not limited to: First responsibility is to find a relief pharmacist in any case that the employed pharmacist is unavailable because of time off, sickness, or unexpected circumstance Is personally responsible for compliance with all laws governing the practice of pharmacy and distribution of drugs Maintains organizational objective to have qualified clinicians accountable to the pharmacy for decisions affecting consumers. Oversees pharmacy compliance, governmental, legal requirements, and other regulatory standards Develops departmental goals and objectives in consultation with administration. Establishes and implements departmental policies and procedures. Adheres to all pharmacy, state and federal laws and regulations. Performs other duties as assigned Establishes safe practices for infusion therapy handling and collaborate/communicate with multidisciplinary team members involved in providing services to patients. Assists in development and oversight of infusion therapy policies and procedures. This position reports to the Pharmacy Manager.

Requirements

  • Graduate of accredited school of pharmacy
  • Alabama State Board of Pharmacy Active Registered Pharmacist License and Controlled Substance Permit

  • Previous experience with ScriptPro Pharmacy Management System
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
