We currently have a role available for a Pharma Cell Biologist to join our San Diego based team.

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience with mammalian cell culture, including adherent and suspension cells is a must.
  • Experience preparing and handling multiple types of cell culture media is required.
  • Working knowledge of molecular biology techniques such as cell lysis, genomic DNA extraction, and PCR is required.
  • BS/MS degree in Cell/Molecular Biology (or related field) and at least 1 year laboratory experience in industry is required.
  • Team player mentality with strong written and verbal communication skills. Will be required to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams including structural biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, and biophysics.
  • The ideal candidate will be organized, comfortable with multi-tasking, enthusiastic, self-motivated and details oriented, with the skills necessary to operate effectively in a fast-paced multidisciplinary environment with flexibility and an adaptable approach to goal delivery.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with plasmid DNA preparation, including mid- to large-scale plasmid production is highly desirable.
  • Prior transfection experience is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and culture mammalian cells, including both adherent and suspension cell lines.
  • Prepare, optimize, and maintain various cell culture media, supplements, and reagents.
  • Perform routine cell passaging, counting, viability assessment, and cryopreservation.
  • Lyse cells and extract genomic DNA for downstream molecular biology applications.
  • Perform PCR and related molecular biology assays for genotyping or construct verification.
  • Scale up plasmid DNA preparations for transfection and experimental use.
  • Support transfection and cell-based assays as needed.
  • Prepare and maintain laboratory reagents, buffers, and consumables.
  • Accurately document experimental procedures and results in lab notebooks or electronic systems.
  • Work collaboratively with team members to support project timelines and experimental goals.
  • Ensure compliance with laboratory safety, biosafety, and regulatory requirements.
  • This position is a hands-on, lab-based role.
