About The Position

The PharmTechnician is responsible for reviewing physician orders, selecting and aseptically preparing parenteral admixtures, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and other medications, and organizing and maintaining proper inventory levels of medications and supplies.

Requirements

  • California Certified Pharmacy Technician license that is current and in good standing.
  • 1+ year(s) of experience as a pharmacy technician.

Responsibilities

  • Review physician orders for completeness and approval to generate appropriate labels for admixture.
  • Use mathematical calculations and metric conversions to determine medication quantity necessary for admixture.
  • Select proper medication strength(s)/vial(s) to reduce drug waste.
  • Use aseptic techniques to prepare chemotherapies, immunotherapies, and other parenteral medications.
  • Ensure each medication preparation is correctly labeled and double checked.
  • Organize and maintain medication and supply inventories.
  • Perform inventory control duties, including ordering, receiving, stocking, exchanging, and returning medications and supplies.
  • Responsible for appropriate medication storage and dispensing.
  • Responsible for appropriate EMR documentation and communication with staff.
  • Follow Federal, State, and local laws and regulations, including USP 797 and USP 800.
  • Follow organizational policies and procedures.
  • Train new staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
