About The Position

Boeing Phantom Works is seeking a dynamic leader to serve as Mesa Fabrication Manager. This front‑line leadership role is responsible for planning, executing, and continuously improving fabrication operations across the Mesa site—spanning special materials production, tech‑base development, prototype/test fabrication, and government CRAD efforts. You will lead and develop the team, integrate daily production demand into executable plans, and ensure reliable delivery and quality for mission‑critical programs. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape manufacturing capability, accelerate transition of advanced materials to production, and partner directly with program customers and R&D teams.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated leadership managing front‑line manufacturing operations and teams in aerospace, defense, or similarly complex production environments.
  • Hands‑on experience with production planning, daily shop‑floor management, capacity planning and change control.
  • Proven ability to track and drive KPIs, forecast on‑time delivery, and manage risk to schedules.
  • Experience with supplier technical oversight and production process approvals.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills; experience working directly with program customers and cross‑functional teams.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, manufacturing, operations, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • This position must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements. To meet U.S. export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim U.S. Top Secret Clearance Pre-Start and final U.S. Top Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with specialty materials, Phantom Works, or prototype/test fabrication environments.
  • Familiarity supporting platforms such as B1B, F/A‑18, or Proprietary.
  • Lean/Continuous Improvement certifications (e.g., Six Sigma, Lean), or PMP/PgMP.
  • Prior experience with government CRAD or R&D transition programs.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the team across multiple organizations - special materials production, tech‑base development fabrication, prototype/test/development fabrication, government CRAD.
  • Set vision and execute integrated departmental plans, policies, and operating procedures to meet customer expectations and site objectives.
  • Organize daily planning and execution of work order demand: convene daily Tier Board meetings, conduct regular fabrication area walks, and maintain visible, hands‑on support to technicians.
  • Coordinate schedule and quantity change management with Program Management and provide transparent production capacity visibility.
  • Own production KPIs and performance tracking to customer plans; develop tools and processes to forecast on‑time delivery and predict risks.
  • Identify, quantify and communicate schedule/quantity change impacts mid‑production; propose mitigation and recovery plans.
  • Provide technical management of suppliers and approve manufacturing approaches, processes and tooling as required.
  • Drive process improvements and lean manufacturing practices to increase throughput, quality and predictability.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, stakeholders, engineering, supply chain, finance, R&D and program teams (including B1B, F/A‑18, Proprietary Programs, Phantom Works CRAD and Phantom Works R&D).
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and government customer requirements.
