The PhD Intern in Quantum Computing at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) will contribute to research focused on applying quantum computing techniques to optimize power system performance. This role involves collaboration with a team of researchers to develop innovative solutions for enhancing grid reliability and efficiency through advanced quantum computing methodologies.

  • Contribute to ongoing research in quantum computing for power system applications.
  • Utilize quantum computing techniques such as variational quantum circuit, quantum approximate optimization algorithm, and quantum annealing.
  • Optimize power grid performance and improve grid reliability and efficiency.
  • Develop research ideas and participate in regular team meetings.
  • Assist with data analysis and literature reviews.
  • Currently enrolled in a PhD program at an accredited college.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 required.
  • Pursuing a Ph.D. in Computer Science, Power Systems Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with quantum computing techniques such as variational quantum circuit, quantum approximate optimization algorithm, and quantum annealing.
  • Experience with hybrid quantum-classical computing systems.
  • Experience with power system optimization.
