Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • 2+ years of work experience in a related job discipline
  • PGY1 Residency completion

Responsibilities

  • Clinical Rotations - Participate in six required rotations within the Pharmacy Division as well as other divisions at CCHMC, including Administration, General Pediatrics, PICU or CICU and NICU. Complete a minimum of three elective rotations which have been approved by the Residency Director in order to gain additional experience in areas of particular interest. Complete activities as assigned during each clinical rotation.
  • Teaching and Education - Present continuing education programs to the Division of Pharmacy.
  • Quality and Process Improvement - Participate in improving organizational performance and patient safety through identification and implementation of improvement initiatives. Review adverse drug events and serious safety events.
  • Research/Scholarly Activity - Complete a major residency project during the year dealing with a subject pertinent to pharmacy services and/or patient care at CCHMC. Complete the project by deadline and submit a written report in a format conforming to accepted manuscript guidelines.
  • Medication-Use Safety - Complete designed experiential opportunities that develop the individual into an effective leader in medication-use safety, serving as an authoritative resource and visionary on the ideal safe medication-use system for the organization. Represent the medication-use safety perspective to the organization's design of its technology and automation systems. Conduct planning for pursuit of the organization's vision of a safe medication-use system and collect medication-use safety data and use appropriate data analysis techniques to identify needed improvements in the medication-use system. Manage changes in the medication-use safety system.
